Because every woman is worthy of being held in vulnerability during
the sacred work of birth she was knit together to do.
“You have searched me, LORD, and you know me.” -Psalm 139:1
“For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.” -Psalm 139:13
These passages are often applied to the wonder of a new life being formed. But these passages also apply to YOU, dear mama. From the time of your conception, YOUR body was being knit and formed to do this sacred work of birth. God designed your hormones, physiology, and mind to work together with your baby to bring new life into the world. You were MADE for this. Here at Knit and Known, I strive to provide you with information and resources to teach you how to lean into and capitalize on your body’s natural ability to birth. I simultaneously work to build a relationship where you feel safe to let go and be vulnerable, held in support while you embrace your primal power to birth your baby. I pray our experience together will not only leave you feeling capable and empowered to birth, but also in complete awe of your Creator.
Dads, this is for you, too!
I believe hiring a doula to attend a birth is as much for the partner as it is for the birthing person. Labor can be long and WILL be intense. It can be hard to watch your sweetheart go through the process if you don’t know what to expect and how to prepare for it. During our prenatal visits, we will learn about the different stages of labor and the sights and sounds that go along with each. We will practice different laboring positions and comfort techniques. My goal is that you BOTH go into your birth experience feeling educated, confident, capable, and supported. And then when the big day comes, I will be there to partner WITH you both to make sure everyone’s physical and emotional needs are cared for as you work to meet your baby.
